Dignity Health – St. Joe’s is part of one of the largest not-for-profit health systems in the country, CommonSpirit Health, which earned over $34.6 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2023. In spite of this, St. Joe’s announced sudden layoffs of all Patient Care Techs across the eight ICUs at the hospital, with only two weeks severance for workers who had dedicated years and decades of their lives to their jobs. Who else could be next?

These layoffs will impact workers and patients across the board. Patient Care Techs are essential to patient care outcomes. Without them, other healthcare workers who are already understaffed will have to take on extra responsibilities — impacting the quality of care overall. If even more workers are laid off, lives will be at risk.

Workers at St. Joe’s demand the retention of all positions at St. Joe’s.
