In order to pay for big tax cuts for billionaires the Trump administration is threatening to make deep cuts to Medicaid funding. Cuts to Medicaid (known as Medi-Cal in California) would be a disaster for patient care and healthcare workers. Our representatives in Congress need to hear from healthcare workers and patients.

Make a call now.

Step 1: If you are unsure who your representative is, look them up here.

Step 2: Call the Congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121. Ask to speak to your representative’s office. They will connect you.

Step 3: Your call will either be answered by a staff member or go to voicemail. Either way, leave your message calling on the legislator to oppose any cuts to Medicaid.

Make sure you include:

  • Your name.
  • That you are a constituent (you live in their district) and a healthcare worker.
  • That you are asking they take a stand AGAINST any cuts to Medicaid.
  • Why Medicaid is important for patients and healthcare workers.

If your congressperson is a Republican:
It’s especially important that we reach out to Republican legislators. They will be facing pressure from their party to go along with these cuts, so we need to make sure they know that their constituents are against it. Let them know that nationally 66% of Americans support Medicaid, including 55% of Republicans.
