For more than a year, we have been doing everything we can to keep ourselves, our patients and our families safe in the pandemic. It’s crucial we get the support we need to continue fighting this virus, and once again, we have some good news to share.
Through advocacy in SEIU-UHW, our union, we have been able to again secure the following again at Kaiser:
- Childcare Stipend of $200/week will be extended through June 5, 2021.*
- COVID-19 Leave of 80 additional hours will be extended through Sept. 30, 2021.
- Leave is now also expanded to cover vaccine appointments and side effects.
- Leave extension is retroactive to January 1, 2021 and applies to employees working from home who are unable to work for one of the covered reasons.
While these victories are steps in the right direction, our fight to demand the three R’s at Kaiser: Recognition, Retention and Respect continues. This means righting the wrong of Kaiser’s cut to our PSP payout, and supporting AB650, the Health Care Worker Recognition and Retention Act, to mandate employers pay REAL recognition bonuses to healthcare workers on the front lines of the pandemic — including Kaiser.
We’re continuing our pickets across the state to call for our FULL PSP payout. Check out the action on our SEIU-UHW Facebook page, and share some of the action on your own social media.
If your picket hasn’t happened yet, join us on the line to keep the pressure on for real Recognition, Respect and Retention. Sign up with your SEIU-UHW representative, steward, contract specialist or executive board member today.
