We are currently in talks with management to implement the benefits we won in our first union contract, and we have a valuable head start in ensuring our healthcare industry experience is recognized on our new wage scale beginning February 2025.

In the coming weeks, you will receive important information from management about the next steps in this process. Together, we are committed to ensuring all Sharp employees are given the time to review and adjust their industry experience on a case-by-case basis.

Stay tuned for important details or contact your Union Organizer/Rep for more information.

“After months of fighting for what we deserve at the bargaining table and on the picket line, it’s a new day across Sharp Healthcare. We have secured life-changing contract gains and shifted the balance of power at our union facilities. Now we sit across the table as equals with management and we will bargain for even more improvements in 2027.” Megan Ramos , Sharp Grossmont Hospital

What We’ve Won:

  1. One Union Contract Across Sharp: All SEIU-UHW-represented Sharp Healthcare workers are unified under ONE collective bargaining agreement ensuring the same benefits, rights, and rules no matter which Sharp facility we work at. We will also have greater bargaining power as a unified group when we negotiate again in 2027 and beyond.
  2. Fair Wage Scales: Standard wage scales will be immediately implemented based on overall job class experience that lift up workers with an average increase of 23%.
  3. Premiums for family coverage will be cut in half for workers currently making $37.50/hour or less. Workers with single coverage who wish to upgrade to family coverage also get a 50% premium discount.
  4. All new, no-premium healthcare option with coinsurance available for all workers beginning January 1, 2026.
  5. Ratification and retention bonuses for Grossmont and Hospice workers who missed last Sharp-wide raise: Total of $2,400 for full-time; $1,200 for part-time; $800 for per diem; half paid upon ratification, other half paid six months later as a retention bonus.
  6. Hospice workers will get COVID bonuses they were previously denied: $1,000 for full-time; $750 for part-time.
  7. Retirement security: Joint labor/management retirement committee will meet quarterly to address the need for significantly improved retirement benefits for all Sharp employees.
  8. Union On-the-job Protections: We now have core union worker rights to file grievances for contract violations with binding arbitration, representation by union stewards, and ongoing labor-management committee meetings to address issues as they arise.
  9. Our right to bargain for more: Our new union contract term is from 2024 through 2027, which means we have the right to negotiate for additional improvements that build upon this foundational agreement in three years and for generations of Sharp healthcare workers to come.
